MARSHFIELD — Madison Bogie hit a home run with one out in the top of the seventh inning to push Wisconsin Rapids to a 4-3 victory over Marshfield in a Wisconsin Valley Conference softball game Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.

Freshman pitcher Megan Donahue struck out a season-high 17 — her fifth-straight start with double-digit strikeouts — but allowed eight hits and two home runs in suffering the hard-luck loss for the Tigers (8-8, 3-6 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

“It was tough to lose a game when Megan pitches that well,” Marshfield coach Mike Voss said. “We did OK hitting tonight, but we just could not string anything together except the one inning we scored our runs.”

Wisconsin Rapids (9-5, 7-2 Wisconsin Valley Conference) scored once in the first on an RBI single by Allison Brost and added another in the second on a home run by Faith Haas.

Marshfield rallied with a three-run fifth inning to take a short-lived lead.

Alyssa Ede led off with a single, and Alyssa Wilhelm walked. After a fielder’s choice, Emily Draeger ripped a triple to score Wilhelm and Melissa Roberts to tie the game. Morgan Nordbeck followed with an RBI single to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.

Jordan Whipple had an RBI single to tie the game in the sixth for Rapids.

Marshfield had a runner on in both the sixth and seventh innings but could not get the tying run across.

Marshfield is back in action Thursday at Merrill.
