Marshfield boys golf fourth at Greenwood Hills, moves up spot in WVC team standings

Derek Michalski ties for fifth to lead Tigers

WAUSAU — The Marshfield boys golf team moved into third place overall with a fourth-place finish at the fourth leg of the 2015 Wisconsin Valley Conference Boys Golf Tournament on Tuesday at Greenwood Hills Country Club.

Stevens Point and host D.C. Everest tied for first in the team standings with a score of 340, four shots ahead of Wausau East and five in front of Marshfield.

The Tigers are one half point ahead of Wausau West and D.C. Everest for third in the overall standings with three meets remaining. Stevens Point won the first three meets outright and are 7 ½ points ahead of Wausau East for first place.

Wausau East’s Matt Tuman shot an 80 to win meet medalist honors and moves into sole possession of first place in the overall standings.

Derek Michalski tied for fifth with an 84, Zach Shortess shot an 85 to tie for eighth, and Jordan Schlinsog tied for 12th with an 87 for Marshfield.

Shortess is now seventh and Michalski 11th in the overall standings.

Brandon Nikolai added an 89, and Grant Michaelis shot a 103 to round out the Tigers’ lineup.

The fifth leg of the tournament is Friday at Merrill Golf Club.
