Stratford softball uses three-run first to knock off Assumption
Kiana Weiler tosses complete-game five-hitter

STRATFORD — Casey Kolbeck and Kaylee Geiger each drove in a pair of runs to lead the Stratford softball team to a 4-1 win over Wisconsin Rapids Assumption in a Marawood Conference South Division game Monday at Hilgemann Field.
Kolbeck had a two-run double, and Geiger followed that up with a solo home run in a three-run first that put the Tigers (17-4, 9-1 Marawood South) ahead for good.
Erin Sullivan had two hits and drove in the only run with a single in the seventh for Assumption (9-5, 6-4 Marawood South).
Geiger added an RBI single in the third to provide the Tigers with their final run.
Kiana Weiler earned the win for Stratford, scattering five hits. She did not strike out or walk a batter.
Stratford is off until Friday when it plays at Pittsville.
