Group continues to expand with high-performing systems

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Clinic Health System (MCHS) is joining AboutHealth, the statewide health care organization that includes Aspirus, Aurora Health Care, Bellin Health, Gundersen Health System, ProHealth Care, ThedaCare, and UW Health.

The system was developed to enhance clinical quality, increase efficiency, and improve customer experiences through shared practices.

“Marshfield Clinic Health System is pleased to be named a member of AboutHealth,” said MCHS CEO Susan Turney, MD. “AboutHealth is closely aligned with our mission, and we already have working relationships with AboutHealth members. Now we have the opportunity to strengthen relationships. Together we are providing the right thing for Wisconsin and a potential national model for health care delivery.”

Dr. Jeff Thompson, chair of the AboutHealth Board of Directors and CEO of Gundersen Health System, said, “With Marshfield Clinic Health System, we will have a broader reach across Wisconsin, allowing all of us to increase quality and lower cost more quickly.”

MCHS is joining the state’s most comprehensive network of health care providers. Collectively, the system provides access to care for about 94 percent of Wisconsin’s population and serves patients in neighboring Illinois, Iowa, Michigan, and Minnesota.

“Marshfield Clinic Health System is an exciting fit, dedicated to the same principles of high quality, value-based health care that defines each of our founding organizations,” said Greg Devine, president and CEO of AboutHealth. “We welcome Marshfield Clinic to our efforts to build a new standard for health care for our patients and our communities.”

Each of the participating organizations is a recognized leader for delivering some of the highest quality, lowest cost care in the state. The partnership is open to expanding its membership to include other health care organizations that have a demonstrated record of delivering quality, value-based care in the future.
