MERRILL — The Marshfield girls track team had a pair of event wins and finished second at the Otto Bacher Invitational on Friday at Merrill High School.

Lakeland won the team title with 119 points, and Marshfield took second with 103 points.

Martha Kupfer won the 200 meters in 27.16 seconds, and the 400 relay team of Olivia Tierney, Angelina Dunomes, Emma Boson, and Mariah Goeppinger (52.94) also won for Marshfield.

Kupfer also finished second in the triple jump (35 feet, 4 ½ inches), one inch behind winner Morgan Marnholtz of Merrill.

“Once again we got great efforts from a number of girls, and we almost won this meet,” Marshfield coach Dan Akin said. “The field was very even tonight, and we competed well. This was a great team effort by the Lady Tigers as this is one of our key track meets during the outdoor season.”

The Tigers are back in action Tuesday at the Tomah Invitational.
