Tigers even Marawood South record at 3-3

By Paul Lecker

Sports Reporter

AUBURNDALE — A seventh-inning rally fell just short for the Auburndale baseball team as it dropped a 10-9 decision to Stratford in a Marawood Conference South Division game Thursday at Auburndale High School.

Stratford scored three times in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings to take a 10-6 lead before Auburndale rallied with three runs in the seventh, but the Tigers held on for the win and improve to 5-6 overall and 3-3 in the Marawood South. Auburndale is now 3-6 and 2-4 in the conference.

Cody Steins had three hits, scored twice, and drove in a pair of Auburndale. Paul Willfahrt scored three times, and Wyatt Weiler added two hits and two runs for the Apaches.

Auburndale plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Friday, and Stratford is off until Monday when it hosts Assumption.
