Proceeds benefit Marshfield Area Pet Shelter

MARSHFIELD — Want to walk your dog for a good cause?

Join Marshfield Area Pet Shelter (MAPS) on Saturday, May 9, for the second annual Paws for Brittany Memorial Fun Run and Dog Walk.

The event starts and finishes in Wildwood Park in Marshfield. The path travels around the upper pond and then past buffalo, elk, wolves, and other wildlife. Runners, walkers, pets, and strollers are welcome.

Paws for Brittany honors Marshfield native and pet lover Brittany Zimmermann, who was attacked and murdered on April 2, 2008, while attending UW-Madison. The fun run and dog walk was started by family and friends of Zimmermann to remember her and honor her compassionate spirit for all animals.

Proceeds from Paws for Brittany benefit MAPS, and last year’s event raised more than $10,000. Once the new MAPS facility is built, the Free Roaming Cat Room will be dedicated in Zimmermann’s honor.

To register for the event, visit pawsforbrittany.com. Preregistration is encouraged.

The cost is $25 for participants 13 and older, and the price includes a T-shirt. Children 12 and under may participate for free. Kids T-shirts and additional adult T-shirts can be purchased the day of the event.

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. on May 9 at Wildwood Park. The run and walk begin at 9 a.m.

Contributions to Marshfield Area Pet Shelter’s Capital Campaign can be made through the Marshfield Area Community Foundation. To learn more about MAPS, visit marshfieldpetshelter.org.
