Draeger, Dupee hit home runs as Marshfield softball survives at Black River Falls

Dupee hits grand slam in seventh to ice win

BLACK RIVER FALLS — Marshfield scored six runs in the third inning and added four more in the seventh to win a slugfest over Black River Falls 13-8 in a nonconference softball matchup Tuesday.

Kayla Kluge struck out eight and walked 10 to earn the win and added three hits and two RBIs for Marshfield (7-5).

Emily Draeger and Lexi Dupee each hit home runs for Marshfield, which had 15 hits in all. Dupee’s was a grand slam in the seventh inning, and she finished with five RBIs and scored four times. Draeger, Megan Donahue, Dupee, Mary Kloos, and Melissa Roberts each had two hits.

Draeger started the third-inning rally with a home run. Jadey Nelson had an RBI fielder’s choice, Kloos had an RBI single, Alyssa Ede drove in two with a hit, and Alyssa Wilhelm added an RBI single in the inning for Marshfield.

Marshfield plays at Stevens Point at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
