GILMAN – Macie Weber, Colleen Arnold and Courtney Buss each had two hits to lift the Spencer softball team to a 7-1 win over Gilman on Friday in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup.

Spencer scored once in the second and added two-run innings in the third, fourth and sixth to pull away and improve to 8-2 overall and 6-0 in the Cloverbelt East. Gilman is now 9-4 and 6-2 in the conference with both losses coming to the Rockets.

Buss doubled twice and scored two runs, Marisa Johnson scored twice, and Weber had two RBIs for Spencer.

“This was a huge win on the road for us against a very good Gilman team,” Spencer coach Jason Gorst said. “Courtney Buss and Colleen Arnold really gave us some production in the bottom of the order.”

Spencer hosts Pittsville in a nonconference doubleheader Saturday.
