WAUSAU – Auburndale scored nine runs in the first three innings and went on to whip Wausau Newman Catholic 14-1 in a Marawood Conference South Division baseball game Friday at Athletic Park.

The Apaches (3-3, 2-3 Marawood South) scored twice in the first, four more times in the second, and added three runs in the third to jump out to a big lead. Auburndale finished off the game via the 10-run rule with a five-run fifth inning.

Aaron Willfahrt was 4-for-4 with two doubles, four runs scored and two RBIs to lead the Auburndale offense.

Paul Willfahrt had three doubles, four RBIs and scored three times, and Cody Steins had three hits and three RBIs for Auburndale in the win.

Cooper Krings earned the win, giving up just one run and four hits in five innings, and hit a home run for the Apaches.

Auburndale plays a nonconference doubleheader at home against Spencer on Saturday.
