AUBURNDALE — The Auburndale baseball and softball teams suffered losses to Marathon in Marawood Conference South Division action Tuesday at Auburndale High School.

Marathon won the baseball game 13-1 and the softball game 11-1 to remain undefeated in both sports in the conference.

In the softball contest, Auburndale was limited to one hit, a double by Katie Lundgren.

Marathon pounded out 11 hits and scored in four of the five innings to improve to 5-3 overall and 4-0 in the Marawood South. Auburndale is now 1-5 and 1-3 in the conference.

Cody Steins had two of the Apaches’ three hits and drove in their only run in the baseball loss.

Marathon scored seven times in the first inning against Aaron Willfahrt, chasing him from the game before an out was recorded. Four Auburndale pitchers combined to walk 15 Marathon batters in six innings.

Marathon is 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the conference while Auburndale drops to 1-3 and 0-3 in the Marawood South.

Both Auburndale teams play at Northland Lutheran on Thursday.
