Greenwood sends Columbus Catholic baseball to loss in season opener

GREENWOOD — Greenwood scored single runs in the fourth and sixth innings to sneak past Marshfield Columbus Catholic 2-1 in the season opener for both baseball teams on Tuesday.
Columbus scored a run in the third inning to take the lead before Greenwood tied it in the fourth and pushed ahead the game-winning run in the sixth.
Jeremy Binder suffered the hard-luck loss for Columbus. He struck out five, walked two, and gave up five hits in six innings.
Dane Toburen gave up just one hit and struck out eight to earn the win for Greenwood.
Columbus hosts Granton at 5 p.m. Thursday at Jack Hackman Field.
