Columbus Catholic softball whips Colby

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored five runs in the bottom of the first inning and rolled to an 8-1 victory over Colby in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division softball game Tuesday at the Marshfield Fairgrounds.
Abby Baierl had seven strikeouts to earn the complete-game victory for the Dons, who were playing their season-opener.
Lindsay Schultz was 3-for-4 to lead the Columbus offense.
The Dons play at Loyal on Thursday.
