MEDFORD — Kiana Weiler held Medford to two hits to lift the Stratford softball team to an 8-2 win over the Raiders in a nonconference game to open the 2015 season Thursday at Medford High School.

Weiler struck out eight and walked two to earn the win. She also had a hit and an RBI for the Tigers.

Stratford scored single runs in the second and third innings and led 3-1 heading into the seventh when it exploded for a five-run inning to put the game away.

Sammy Griesbach had a single, a double, and scored twice, and Kaylee Geiger and Dallas Adams each had two RBIs for Stratford.

Stratford opens its Marawood Conference South Division schedule Tuesday at home against Northland Lutheran.
