MARSHFIELD — An 83-year-old Marshfiled man was struck by a car on the 100 block of Central Avenue last night at 8:43 p.m. and hospitalized for his injuries. James Eisner is in critical condition at Ministry St. Jospeh’s Hospital as of 10:45 a.m. Friday morning according to a spokesperson from the hospital.

The man driving the car that struck Eisner was 60-year-old Kieran Clark of Marshfield according to the report from the Marshfield Police Department.

According to the report, Eisner was crossing Central Avenue in an area where there was not a cross walk. Clark told police he did not see Eisner until shortly before colliding with him and that he did apply his brakes, which squealed when he pressed them. Clark told police that it appeared as though Eisner was not looking at traffic but was looking down.

Two witnesses said that Clark was driving too fast, but squad car video of the incident did not substantiate those statements. There was no evidence that Clark was impaired according to the report.
