V&H Trucks, MACCI’s 2015 firm of the year, is built on the strength of its employees and customer service

MARSHFIELD — V&H Trucks Inc., a truck and equipment supplier located in Marshfield, was selected for the 2015 Firm of the Year award by the Marshfield Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

“We sell our products, but our service after the sale is what makes us so strong,” said Terry Frankland, president and CEO of the firm. Frankland has over 35 years of experience in the car and truck business. “Most people don’t realize that we sell all over the country. They don’t realize how big we are,” said Frankland.

The firm was selected for the award based on criteria such as growth, community involvement, and innovation.

When asked why he likes to do business with V&H Trucks, Ken Heiman of Nasonville Dairy said, “A lot of it has to do with customer service. They’ll go the extra mile to keep our trucks on the road.” Heiman, a Marshfield resident, is a partner and owner of Nasonville Dairy. Heiman said the dairy has been doing business with V&H Trucks since the late 1970s.

According to Frankland, there is a considerable amount of service that comes with the trucks including training, repair services, and warranties, all of which add significant value to the trucks.

The company is also involved with philanthropic causes in the community. They are active with the United Way, Relay for Life, Children’s Miracle Network, and the Auction of Champions. Frankland is a past drive chair for the United Way.

“It was the most gratifying thing I’ve ever done. The satisfaction from helping people is tremendous,” he said. “We are very fortunate to live in this community. When the going gets tough, this community responds.”

According to Frankland, business is good. The economy is rebounding, and they are growing.

“We’ve got, I think, the best employees in the country,” said Frankland, and he attributes much of the company’s success to its workforce. Frankland said that the business is growing but continues to be family-oriented and that he is proud of his employees.

When asked about the business’ philosophy toward customer service, Frankland said, “We feel that we have put the customer first, and we do what we can to satisfy our customer and make their jobs easier. Our employees believe in that philosophy.”

V&H Trucks carries Western Star Trucks, which are manufactured in Portland, Ore.

“We use the semis for delivering products and semi-tractors for transporting milk. They (V&H Trucks) also service our smaller trucks,” said Heiman.

Best selling products include material handling trucks that have cranes mounted on them and railroad trucks. Brand new trucks range in price from $250,000 to $300,000 depending on the specifications. V&H Trucks also sells used trucks.

When asked what he would recommend to someone who is looking for a new or used truck, Frankland said, “Have a look at the complete package of both products and services.”

V&H Trucks Inc. is located at 1505 S. Central Ave. in Marshfield, which is their corporate office. They have in-state locations in Marshfield, Prentice, Lodi, and Madison as well as out of state locations in Charlotte, N.C. and New Century, Kan.
