Second annual WinterFest to benefit Special Olympics
MARSHFIELD — The second annual WinterFest will be held Saturday, Feb. 21 at RiverEdge Golf Course in Marshfield. Proceeds benefit Marshfield Area Special Olympics. The day will include fat tire biking races, snowshoe races, and skiing races.
Festivities begin at 1:30 p.m., and registration for races can be done online at tandhtiming.com or at the event. There is no cost to watch the races, and concession stands will sell food and refreshments.
Boogie and the Yo-yo’z will provide live musical entertainment in the evening, and admission to the concert costs $10.
Jill Holm, an organizer of WinterFest and co-owner of RiverEdge along with her husband Jay, said that she hopes fundraising this year will exceed what was raised at last year’s inaugural event.
“In 2014 we worked hand in hand with our friends at the Marshfield Clinic Development Department to raise over $8,000 net dollars for the Pediatric Oncology Department at the Marshfield Clinic. This year, for 2015, we hope to double that total for the Marshfield Area Special Olympics.”
WinterFest supports a different local charity each year.
Holm added that the success of WinterFest is due to 35 local businesses and families that have donated to the event.
