Marauders men lose at home to UW-Rock County

MARSHFIELD – The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team dropped its second game in a row, losing 99-87 to UW-Rock County on Saturday afternoon at the Marauder Gym.

The Marauders fall to 6-12 overall and 3-5 in the Wisconsin Collegiate Conference with the loss.

Rock County led 39-30 at halftime and held on despite a wild second half as it outscored Marshfield 60-57 over the final 20 minutes.

Joseph Estrict had 23 points and Derrick Shivers added 20 points and nine rebounds for the Marauders.

Safari Hunt proved unstoppable for Rock County, scoring 37 points on 13 of 21 shooting and five 3-pointers. The Rattlers had 13 3-pointers in all.

UW-Marshfield/Wood County hosts UW-Barron County in the team’s final regular season game Monday at 7:30 p.m. The Wisconsin Collegiate Conference playoffs begin Feb. 14.
