WAUSAU — The University of Wisconsin-Marshfield/Wood County men’s basketball team’s comeback attempt came up just short as it dropped a 68-66 decision at UW-Marathon County on Wednesday night.

The Marauders (6-11, 3-4 Wisconsin Collegiate Conference) trailed 35-27 at halftime before tightening the score late.

Derrick Shivers had 24 points and eight rebounds, Covon Rudolph added 16 points, and Joesph Estrict had nine points and 12 rebounds for Marshfield.

Mason Elsen had 17 points and 10 rebounds for UW-Marathon County.

The Marauders finish their regular-season schedule with a pair of home games. UW-Marshfield/Wood County hosts UW-Rock County at 2 p.m. Saturday and UW-Barron County at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
