2-1-1 Day proclaimed in Marshfield
MARSHFIELD — Mayor Chris Meyer has officially proclaimed Feb. 11, 2015, “2-1-1 Day” in the city of Marshfield. The proclamation will help bring awareness to United Way’s 2-1-1 program. 2-1-1 is a free, confidential, easy to remember phone number that connects people to essential community resources such as housing matters, food pantries, senior services, volunteer opportunities, and more. You can also search online for community resources on United Way’s 2-1-1 website, getconnected211.org.
In addition to providing referrals, 2-1-1 tracks callers’ needs to analyze needs and gaps in services and reports that information to policymakers and funders to ensure the most efficient and effective use of community resources. Last year United Way’s 2-1-1 received approximately 5000 calls for information and referrals, and the website had over 28,000 hits.
Referral specialists are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to help with information and resources. For more information contact United Way’s 2-1-1 by dialing the three digit number 2-1-1 or by calling 715-384-5565. Not all cell phones are translated to dial 2-1-1. If you have trouble reaching United Way’s 2-1-1, call 877-947-2211.
