STEVENS POINT — Freshman Scott Thompson won an event and placed second in another for two of Marshfield’s top finishes in a 102-60 loss to Stevens Point in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet Thursday night at Stevens Point Area Senior High.

Thompson won the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.56 and was second in the 200 individual medley in 2:41.17 for the Tigers.

Mason Metz was second in the 100 breaststroke in 1:22.83, eight seconds behind Thompson, for Marshfield’s only other top-two individual finish.

The Tigers’ 400 freestyle relay team of Alec Brenner, Colin Thomasgard, Thompson, and Metz won in 4:30.75, and Marshfield also had second-place finishes in the 200 medley relay and the 400 freestyle relay.

Stevens Point completes a season-sweep in the dual meets, finishing 8-0 in the Valley. Marshfield ends up 1-6-1.

Both teams will compete in the Wisconsin Valley Conference Meet at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point next Thursday.
