STRATFORD — Athens used a 16-6 run to pull ahead and held off Stratford to win 48-46 in a nonconference girls basketball game Tuesday night at Stratford High School.

Kyncaide Diedrich scored 22 points—including nine in the decisive second quarter—for the Bluejays (13-3).

Athens led 28-18 at halftime and 37-30 heading in the fourth quarter before Stratford (12-6) made a run.

Brittany Bredemann made two 3-pointers, and Macie Frueh and Savannah Schillinger each added one from long-range to bring the Tigers close.

Frueh finished with 21 points to top the Tigers.

Stratford is off until next Tuesday when it plays at Wisconsin Rapids Assumption.
