Spencer boys basketball starts strong, beats Greenwood

SPENCER – The Spencer boys basketball team pulled out to a double-digit lead in the second quarter and held on the rest of the way to down Greenwood 59-50 on Friday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets remain undefeated in the Cloverbelt Conference East Division with the victory, improving to 10-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference. Greenwood is now 4-8 and 4-6 in the Cloverbelt East.

Spencer led 15-8 after one quarter and 27-16 at halftime on its way to the home victory.

Bobby Pilz had 23 points, including five 3-pointers, to top Spencer. Mitch Susa added three 3-pointers and 11 points overall.

Booker Bredlau led Greenwood with 20 points.

Spencer plays at nonconference game at Abbotsford on Monday.
