The city speaks: Reserving Indoor tennis & racquetball courts

Administrative Assistant, Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department

Have you made your New Year’s resolutions a priority? Do you enjoy playing tennis and wish there was somewhere to play while the weather outside is frightful? Is racquetball or wallyball (volleyball in a smaller space) your game, but you wish you had a place to play?

The city of Marshfield has just the place for you. Marshfield’s hidden treasure can be found in the lower level of City Hall. Here you will find a tennis court and a racquetball court along with men’s and women’s locker room facilities. Both courts are available year-round. So even if the weather in the summer is rainy or cold, you can still get some time on the court with your family or friends.

The tennis or racquetball court can be rented by calling the Marshfield Parks & Recreation Department at 715-384-4642 and making a reservation. The hours are Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. – 10 p.m., Saturdays from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., and Sundays from 8 a.m. – 6 p.m.

To guarantee weekend time, reservations must be made by 3 p.m. on Fridays. The fee to use the tennis court is $16 per hour and $8 per hour for racquetball. These rates are for the court itself for an hour, not the cost per person.

There are money-saving options available as well. Pre-paid time may be purchased for either tennis or racquetball time in lots of five and 10 hours at a reduced rate. Reservations can be made up to one week in advance. If you are a wallyball player, we have equipment available, which turns the racquetball court into a functional wallyball court. Just ask when scheduling.

If you are an avid player and like to know the court is available to you the same day and time every week, there is an option of contracting court time in the fall and also in the winter and spring months. Fall contracts run for 14 weeks, and winter/spring contracts run for 18 weeks.

There is no need to call in to schedule time weekly. Just fill out a contract through the Marshfield Parks & Recreation office, pay for your time in advance, and show up each week.

Beginners and experienced players alike are welcome. Try it for the first time, or keep your skills refined year-round. To make a reservation or ask any questions about the tennis and racquetball center, call the Marshfield Parks & Recreation office at 715-384-4642, ext. 0.
