Marshfield boys swim team snags first WVC dual meet victory

WESTON – Brian Engel and Scott Thompson each won two events, and helped a relay team win another to lead the Marshfield boys swim team to a 94-72 victory over D.C. Everest on Thursday at D.C. Everest High School.

Marshfield won its first Wisconsin Valley Conference dual meet of the season, improving to 1-4. Everest is now 1-5.

Engel, a junior, won the 100 freestyle in 56.26 seconds and the 100 backstroke in 1:07.95.

Thompson, a freshman, took first in the 100 breaststroke in 1:14.80 and the 200 IM in 2:30.76.

Engel, Thompson, Michael Kruse and Calden Wojt teamed to win the 200 medley relay in 1:57.71 for the Tigers.

Wojt won the 50 freestyle in 25.72 and Ben Donahue took first in the 100 butterfly in 1:10.38 for Marshfield’s other two victories.

Marshfield hosts La Crosse Logan on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
