Stratford boys basketball routs Pittsville

STRATFORD — The Stratford boys basketball team moved into sole possession of second place in the Marawood Conference South Division with a convincing 53-34 win over Pittsville on Thursday night at Stratford High School.
The Tigers outscored Pittsville 18-3 in the first quarter and built a 45-21 lead after three quarters on their way to the victory.
Stratford improves to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the Marawood South, one game behind first-place Marathon. Marathon defeated Auburndale on Thursday, knocking the Apaches out of a second-place tie with Stratford. Stratford plays at Marathon on Tuesday.
Jake Reif had 17 points, five assists, and three steals to lead the Tigers. Jake Schmitt and Michael Bargender each added eight points for Stratford.
