MARSHFIELD — The Marshfield girls basketball team had its five-game winning streak snapped after suffering a 59-53 nonconference loss to Chippewa Falls on Tuesday night at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Chippewa Falls (10-0) pulled ahead with a 16-9 second-quarter advantage and led 24-20 at halftime. Marshfield closed to within two after three quarters, but the Cardinals finished off the win in the fourth.

Ema Fehrenbach had 16 points and 11 rebounds, Ellie Kummer added 14 points, and Makayla Scheuer had 12 points for Marshfield (9-2).

The Tigers shot just 39 percent (13 of 33) and committed 21 turnovers.

Lexi Hanley had 22 points and five rebounds for Chippewa Falls.

Marshfield hosts Merrill in a Wisconsin Valley Conference game on Friday.
