Blodgett Häus set to open in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD — Browns Living is opening their corporate headquarters in the former Penny Court building, which was once a public mall in downtown Marshfield. The exterior was redone to resemble the Blodgett Hotel, which stood in the former Penny Court location from 1898 until 1928, with the help of a $60,000 matching grant from the city’s Façade Improvement Program. The corporate office will house nearly 50 employees.

Because of its resemblance to the Blodgett Hotel, the building will be called the Blodgett Häus.

Browns Living is a local company, which was established in 2009 and specializes in assisted living management. In addition to Marshfield’s Stoney River Memory Care and Assisted Living facilities, Browns Living manages more than 30 other assisted living homes in Wisconsin, including homes for elderly and those with memory or behavioral challenges.

The official ribbon cutting for the Blodgett Häus will be Thursday, Jan. 8, at 8 a.m. On Sunday, Jan. 11, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., more than 30 businesses will set up booths, turning the Browns Living office into a shopping center for the day. This open house will be a chance for community members to see the new facility, shop, and learn more about local businesses.
