Neillsville topples Columbus Catholic girls basketball

NEILLSVILLE — Neillsville drained nine 3-pointers and outscored Columbus Catholic by 16 points in the middle two quarters to beat the Dons 42-22 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division girls basketball game Tuesday night at Neillsville High School.

Chelsea Opelt hit four 3-pointers and scored a game-high 12 points for the Warriors (6-2, 5-1 Cloverbelt East).

Columbus Catholic (6-4, 3-2 Cloverbelt East) made just seven baskets, five coming from 3-point range. Jess Trad and Natalie Pospyhalla each had two 3-pointers and scored six points to top the Dons in scoring.

The Dons’ next game is Jan. 8 at Colby.
