Columbus Catholic boys basketball blasts Granton

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Columbus Catholic scored 32 points in the second quarter to open up a 31-point halftime lead and roll to a 79-39 victory over Granton in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division boys basketball game Tuesday night at Columbus Catholic High School.

Columbus led 18-9 after the first quarter before pouring it on with a 32-10 second quarter to take a 50-19 lead at halftime.

Evan Nikolai had 20 points, and Hunter Schultz added 17 points for the Dons, who improve to 5-4 overall and 4-1 in the Cloverbelt East. Granton is 0-5 and 0-4 in the conference. A total of 13 Dons scored in the win.

The Dons are off until Jan. 6 when they play at Greenwood.
