Marshfield wrestlers grab two titles, take second at Richland Center Invitational

RICHLAND CENTER — Marshfield had two individual champions and five second-place finishes to take second place in the team standings at the Richland Center Wrestling Invitational on Saturday at Richland Center High School.

Mitch Hertel improved to 10-0 this season by winning the 170-pound bracket for Marshfield. Hertel won a major decision over Hermes Duran of Baraboo 15-4 in the championship match.

Josh Lang captured Marshfield’s other title, winning a major decision over David Gale of Baraboo 13-5 in the 195-pound championship match. Lang is now 14-1 this season.

Taking second place for the Tigers were Anthony Kanable at 126, Anthony Christmas at 132, Devon Klement at 145, Ryan Wilsmann at 182 ,and Nick Humphrey at 285.

Noah Gerdes (113) and Jeremy Brost (152) each finished fourth for the Tigers.

Marshfield will compete at the Bi-State Classic in La Crosse on Dec. 29-30.
