Nate Mercier pours in 22 points, lead Spencer boys basketball past Granton

SPENCER — Nate Mercier hit five 3-pointers and scored a game-high 22 points to lift the Spencer boys basketball team to an 81-32 rout of Granton in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division matchup Tuesday night at Spencer High School.

Dakota Andreae hit 7 of 10 shots and scored 17 points, and Bobby Pilz added 14 points for the Rockets (3-0, 2-0 Cloverbelt East).

Max Opelt led Granton (0-4, 0-3 Cloverbelt East) with 11 points.

Spencer led just 12-10 after the first quarter but put up a whopping 30 points in the second quarter to take a 42-21 halftime lead. The Rockets finished off the game outscoring Granton 39-11 in the second half.

Spencer’s next game is Friday at Loyal.
