SPENCER — Bobby Pilz had a 3-pointer and a layup in the final 19 seconds to lift the Spencer boys basketball team to a 36-34 nonconference victory over Edgar Monday night at Spencer High School.

The Rockets (2-0) trailed 23-20 heading into the fourth quarter and then outscored Edgar 16-11 to pull out the victory.

Edgar led 34-31 when Pilz drilled a 3-pointer to tie the game with 19 seconds to go.

Miles Weber secured a defensive rebound after a missed 3-pointer by Edgar and whipped a pass to Pilz at halfcourt. Pilz raced to the basket and scored on a layup with about 1 second to go. Edgar was out of timeouts, and time elapsed.

Pilz had nine of his game-high 13 points in the fourth quarter for the Rockets.

Austin Borchardt and Matt Urmanski each had 10 points for Edgar (2-2).

The Rockets’ next game is Tuesday at home against Granton.
