DE PERE — The Marshfield girls basketball team dropped its first game of the season, falling to De Pere 68-56 in a nonconference game Saturday afternoon at De Pere High School.

The Tigers trailed 33-25 at halftime before outscoring De Pere 20-11 in the third quarter to take a one-point lead.

Marshfield’s advantage was short-lived, however, as the Redbirds (4-1) finished off the game on a 24-11 run to win by 12.

Caitlin Michaelis had 20 points and seven assists, Ellie Kummer added 15 points, and Makayla Scheuer had 13 points and five rebounds for Marshfield (4-1).

Marshfield’s next game is next Friday at Wisconsin Rapids. The girls game starts at 6 p.m. with the boys to follow at 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
