Pilz, Susa lift Spencer boys basketball past Greenwood in season opener

GREENWOOD — The Spencer boys basketball team finally opened its 2014-15 season and did so in grand fashion, blowing past Greenwood 76-59 in a Cloverbelt Conference East Division contest.

Bobby Pilz was 7 of 9 from the field and 8 of 10 at the free throw line to score a game-high 25 points for the Rockets. Mitch Susa added 22 points, and Calvin Lenz chipped in with 12 for Spencer.

The Rockets shot 50 percent overall and were 7 of 15 from 3-point range in the win. Susa had four 3-pointers, and Pilz had three from long range.

Greenwood fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the conference.

Spencer hosts Granton on Tuesday.
