Marshfield’s Scott Thompson wins 200 IM in Tigers boys swimming loss to Wisconsin Rapids

MARSHFIELD — Scott Thompson won the 200 IM for Marshfield’s lone event victory in a 96-72 loss to Wisconsin Rapids in a Wisconsin Valley Conference boys swimming dual meet Thursday night at Marshfield High School.

Thompson finished the 200 IM in 2:33.29, winning the event by nearly 6 seconds.

Marshfield got second-place finishes from Thompson in the 500 freestyle (6:52.03); Brian Engel in the 100 freestyle (58.70) and 100 backstroke (1:08.73); and Michael Kruse in the 50 freestyle (27.31), the 200 medley, and 400 freestyle relays.

Marshfield’s next meet is Dec. 18 at home against Stevens Point.
