Marshfield girls hockey doubles up Lakeland for first win of season

MINOCQUA – Lexi Dupee, Kessa Schreiner and Morgan Larson each scored in the second period to lift the Marshfield girls hockey team to a 4-2 victory over Lakeland in a Great Northern Conference matchup Tuesday night at Lakeland Hawks Ice Arena.

The Tigers grabbed their first win of the season, improving to 1-3 overall and 1-2 in the GNC. Lakeland is now 1-2 overall and in the conference.

Marshfield led 1-0 after a goal by Patti Jo Bloczynski in the first period.

Kelli Straubel tied it 5 minutes into the second period before the Tigers ripped off three-straight scores to take control.

Nell Eichten, Larson, goalkeeper Alexis Straughan and Molly Schuster each had assists for the Tigers, and Schreiner finished with two to go along with her goal.

Straughan had 26 saves in goal for Marshfield.

The Tigers next game is at home Friday against Tomahawk. The game begins at 7 p.m. at the Marshfield Youth Ice Arena.
