Marshfield girls basketball uses second-half surge to win at La Crosse Central

LA CROSSE – The Marshfield girls basketball team used a 18-4 run in the fourth quarter to finish off La Crosse Central 48-24 in a nonconference game Tuesday night at Central High School.

Marshfield led 14-11 at halftime and pushed it to 30-20 after three quarters before rolling in the fourth.

Makayla Scheuer led the Tigers for the third-straight game, scoring 12 points. Caitlin Michaelis added 11 and Ellie Kummer chipped in nine for Marshfield (3-0).

The Tigers shot just 32 percent (17 of 52) but forced 22 turnovers and held a 35-24 rebounding advantage. Hannah Meverden had 12 rebounds and Michaelis added 10.

Marshfield hosts Stevens Point on Friday. The game begins at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the boys matchup between the two schools at 7:45 p.m. Both games will be broadcast on WDLB-AM 1450 and wdlbwosq.com.
