Marshfield girls basketball crushes Wausau West

WAUSAU – After having two weeks off since its first game, the Marshfield girls basketball team picked up right where it left off, cruising to a 73-38 victory over Wausau West on Friday at West High School.

The Tigers, who beat Rhinelander by 41 points in their opener on Nov. 20, is now 2-0 and 1-0 in the Wisconsin Valley Conference. West falls to 0-4 and 0-1 in the WVC.

Makayla Scheuer scored 20 points on 7 of 9 shooting, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, to lead the Tigers. Caitlin Michaelis added 18 points and Ellie Kummer had 17.

Marshfield made 12 of 24 shots from 3-point range, led by Kummer’s 5-for-9 shooting.

Marshfield’s next game is Tuesday at La Crosse Central.
