STEVENS POINT — The Stratford boys basketball team pulled out a big road win on Monday, defeating Stevens Point Pacelli 66-62 in a nonconference game at Pacelli High School.

Stratford (2-0) trailed 33-28 at halftime before rallying in the third quarter, outscoring the Cardinals 18-9 to take a 46-42 lead. Both teams scored 20 points in the fourth quarter as the Tigers held on for the win.

The Tigers won despite a huge game from Pacelli’s James Gollon, who scored 47 of the Cardinals’ 62 points. Gollon made 13 of 26 shots from the field, including five 3-pointers, and was a perfect 16 of 16 at the free throw line.

Jake Reif had 19 points, and Michael Bargender added 16 points and 16 rebounds for Stratford.

Stratford is off until Dec. 9 when it plays a nonconference game at Rib Lake.
