Columbus Catholic boys basketball wins Cloverbelt East opener at Loyal

LOYAL — The Marshfield Columbus Catholic boys basketball team ended a two-game losing streak with a 62-51 victory over Loyal on Tuesday night at Loyal High School.
The Dons improve to 2-2 overall and are 1-0 after winning their Cloverbelt Conference East Division opener. Loyal is now 1-1 and 0-1 in the Cloverbelt East.
Columbus Catholic used a 19-6 run in the second quarter to pull out to a 36-22 lead at halftime.
Hunter Schultz had 21 points to lead the Dons in scoring. Three others finished in the double digits. Brett Loveland had 15 points, Evan Nikolai added 11, and Tyler Fuerlinger had 10 for Columbus.
Cameron Brussow had 15 points to top Loyal.
Columbus Catholic plays a nonconference game at Auburndale next Tuesday.
