Columbus Catholic girls basketball wins Cloverbelt East opener at Greenwood

GREENWOOD — Abby Baierl hit three 3-pointers to score a team-high nine points and help lift the Marshfield Columbus Catholic girls basketball team to a 38-33 road win over Greenwood on Tuesday night at Greenwood High School.
The Dons moved to 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the Cloverbelt East while Greenwood dropped to 1-2 and 1-1 in the conference.
Jessica Trad added eight points for the Dons.
Columbus pulled ahead 24-15 by halftime after a 14-6 second-quarter advantage and held on the rest of the way.
The Dons play Pittsville on Friday and Wisconsin Rapids Assumption on Saturday at the Cranberry Classic at Assumption High School. Friday’s game starts at noon, and Saturday’s contest begins at 1:45 p.m.
