MARSHFIELD — Wausau East won all 11 events to best Marshfield 105-61 in the boys swimming season and Wisconsin Valley Conference opener for both teams Tuesday night at The Boson Company Fieldhouse at Marshfield High School.

Caleb Moses (200 IM, 100 freestyle), Morgan Kuphal (50 free, 100 breaststroke), Aaron Russow (200 freestyle, 100 butterfly) and Jordan Straub (500 freestyle, 100 backstroke) each won two events for the Lumberjacks.

Marshfield had five individual second-place finishes, as well as three relays.

Brian Engel was second in the 50 freestyle (24.73) and 100 backstroke (1:07.87), Clayton Metz took second in the 200 IM (2:53.93), Ben Donahue finished second in the 100 butterfly (1:12.90) and Anthony Hartwig was second in the 200 freestyle (2:32.22) for Marshfield.

“For the first meet of the season, and the number of new swimmers we have, the boys did great,” Marshfield coach Faye Egger said. “We have several athletes out due to sickness, and the team swam with heart.”

Marshfield will compete at the Stevens Point Invitational on Saturday.
