STRATFORD – Casey Kolbeck scored 17 points, including 13 in the second quarter, to lead the Stratford girls basketball team to a 51-19 rout of Marshfield Columbus Catholic in a nonconference game Thursday night at Stratford High School.

Stratford led 10-2 after one quarter and pushed it to 29-9 by halftime as the Dons (1-1) made just one basket from the floor (7 of 13 free throws).

Andie Zuelke added eight points, and Tianna Hughes and Sammy Griesbach each had seven for the Tigers, who were playing in their season opener.

Abby Baierl scored seven to lead Columbus. The Dons ended up making 10 of 17 free throws, but only had four field goals in the game.

Stratford plays at Rib Lake on Friday and hosts Edgar on Tuesday in a pair of nonconference games.

Columbus opens its Cloverbelt Conference East Division schedule Tuesday at Greenwood.
