MARSHFIELD — This Friday and Saturday Columbus Catholic High School will turn into an entertainment zone for the annual Alpine Holiday fundraising event.

The event runs from 4-11:30 p.m. on Friday and from 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. on Saturday. Money raised at the event goes to the general fund for Columbus Catholic Schools. There is no cost to attend the event other than a $5 cover charge for people age 19 and older who attend the evening musical acts. On Friday the band will be Doozey, and Boogie and the Yo-Yoz perform on Saturday.

In addition to live music there will be craft boutiques, a lip sync competition, a snowmobile and ATV show, and more to entertain those in attendance. An abundance of food will be available, including cheese curds, pulled pork sandwiches, french fries, and a dessert cart featuring a large variety of cheesecakes, pies, and tortes.

Alpine Holiday began more than 30 years ago, Columbus Director of Events Vicki Tracy said, and since that time it has evolved to include more entertainment each year.

“There is truly something for everyone from kiddie games and face painting to live entertainment and a hopping beer garden to delicious food and treats. The Friday night fish fry, sponsored by Catholic Financial, has been a staple for many years while a coffee shop will be a new addition this year.

“And if you like to shop, there are a number of options. The used book store, spirit apparel room, and various craft boutiques all offer a great gift selection for the upcoming holiday season,” Tracy said.

She added that her enjoyment of the event comes from working for a good cause and especially the fact that it is a group effort.

“One of the most valuable aspects of Alpine is the way that so many people pitch in to work together on a common goal. Our students, parents, and faculty members work at the event from set up to take down to make it all happen,” Tracy said.

For questions about the event, contact Vicki Tracy at 715-387-2444. Columbus High School is located at 710 S. Columbus Ave. in Marshfield.
