Leadership Marshfield participants donate to NOW program

MARSHFIELD — This year’s Leadership Marshfield participants kicked off their monthly program sessions on Oct. 16 with Quality of Life Day. Throughout the course of the day, the class visited the Marshfield Public Library and learned about the many resources there by visiting various stations.
Next, they heard from Paula Jero, Executive Director of the Marshfield Area United Way and learned about various needs in the community. What struck a nerve with many of the participants was the Nutrition On Weekends (NOW) program and the need to provide lunches to nearly 250 area children on the weekends.
Together as a class they decided to challenge each other and bring in food that is needed for NOW lunches. From that challenge, the class has decided to tackle a community need every month. During the month of November they are going to provide food for Thanksgiving dinner for 12 families who are served by the Marshfield Area United Way.
Donations of food are always needed for the NOW program. For more information about the NOW program, visit www.marshfieldareaunitedway.org/NOW.html.
