SPENCER – The Spencer volleyball team celebrated Senior Night with the most important victory of the 2014 season.

The Rockets defeated Greenwood 25-19, 25-16, 23-25, 25-18, in the battle of Cloverbelt Conference East Division unbeatens to clinch their third-straight title.

Spencer finishes the Cloverbelt East at 7-0, losing just three games during the season. Greenwood moves to 5-1 with a match at home against Owen-Withee left on its schedule.

Seniors Marisa Johnson, Brooke Kettleborough, Julia Berres and Abby Varsho were front-and-center for the Rockets, all contributing heavily to the victory.

Johnson had 16 kills and 34 digs to lead the Rockets in both categories. Varsho had 11 kills, Berres had a team-high six aces and Kettleborough tallied 42 assists for Spencer.

Jenna Schober added 21 digs and Macie Weber had nine kills for the Rockets.

The four seniors finished their conference career with a 30-1 record in Cloverbelt East play over the past four seasons, winning 30 matches in a row after a season-opening loss to Owen-Withee in 2011.

Spencer plays a nonconference match at Medford on Thursday.
