Spencer volleyball second at Reedsburg Invitational

REEDSBURG – The Spencer volleyball team finished 4-1 to finish in second place at the Reedsburg Invitational on Saturday at Reedsburg High School.
The Rockets defeated Fort Atkinson in pool play to finish 3-0, beat Sparta in the semifinals, but lost the championship game to Fort Atkinson 2-1 to take second.
Spencer defeated Oregon 25-23, 25-23; Seneca 25-9, 25-13; Fort Atkinson 27-26, 25-23; and Sparta 25-15, 27-26; before losing the championship match to Fort Atkinson 25-18, 20-25, 15-12.
Marisa Johnson had 37 kills and 111 digs in the fifth matches to lead the Rockets. Abby Varsho had 20 kills and five blocks, Sydney Kind had 20 kills and 13 aces, Brooke Kettleborough had 78 assists and Julia Berres added 82 digs for Spencer.
Spencer hosts Greenwood in a battle of Cloverbelt Conference East Division undefeated teams on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m. Spencer is 6-0 and Greenwood 5-0 in conference play this season.
