Marshfield boys soccer rolls past Merrill

MARSHFIELD – Alex Babinski scored twice and assisted on another goal, lifting the Marshfield boys soccer team to a 6-1 win over Merrill on Thursday at Griese Park.

Marshfield dominated from the start, with Babinski scoring 5:06 into the game and Thomas Kruger adding a goal at the 29:17 mark.

Marshfield scored four times in the second half after Merrill had its only score 59 seconds in.

Babinski, Jake Limmex, Leo Steiner and Luke McCann scored for the Tigers, and Nick Okon added an assist on McCann’s goal that came with 1 second remaining in the game.

Marshfield outshot Merrill 38-7 – 16-4 on goal.

Kruger had two saves and Trevyn Tham added one for the Tigers (9-7-2, 4-4-1 Wisconsin Valley Conference).

Merrill is now 1-10-2 and 0-8 in the conference.

The Tigers play at second-place D.C. Everest on Tuesday.
