United Way seeks volunteers to make a difference

MARSHFIELD — Marshfield Area United Way is now taking registrations for this year’s Make A Difference Day. On Saturday, Oct. 25, volunteers will gather to rake lawns for Marshfield residents that are unable to do so themselves.

Residents in need of assistance with their lawns should call United Way at 715-384-9992 to see if they qualify. Due to the time constraints and age of the majority of the volunteers, Marshfield Area United Way cannot guarantee residents with larger than average size city lots or heavily wooded lots can be assisted on this day.

Anyone receiving help on this day must be home when the volunteers are there raking. Additionally, residents are responsible for having enough leaf bags available for the volunteers to use.

Make A Difference Day is a group event to help out the community with friends, family, classmates, church groups, and/or co-workers. This event can make a significant difference for Marshfield residents who are physically unable to rake their lawns themselves.

Volunteers may register for raking by visiting www.volunteermarshfield.org, sending an email to unitedway@tznet.com, or calling 715-384-9992. Volunteers are asked to register in advance so United Way can estimate how many lawns can be raked during the event.

This year volunteers will gather at the rear entrance of the Marshfield Area United Way office at 106 W. First St. at 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 25 to receive instructions and lawn assignments. United Way asks that volunteers bring their own rakes and have their own transportation. A light snack and water will be provided.

If you have any further questions or are in need of assistance with your lawn, please contact Marshfield Area United Way at 715-384-9992.
